Water Hardness
The hardness in your water is one of the most common issues that a homeowner will experience. This is attributed to the presence of calcium and/ or magnesium in the water. Hardness will effect almost every, homowner that does not currently have a water softener installed in their home. City or municipal homes will typically have a hardness level between 8 and 12 Grains per Gallon (gpg) whereas, well water homes will typically see between 20 and 36 gpg. Although city water typically tests much lower, 8-12 gpg water can still have damaging effects on your home and health.
The most common issues that we experience due to hard water is dish washer and water heater failure, white spotting on dishes, calcium build up on fixtures, faded clothing, dry itchy skin and dry brittle hair. To remove the hardness in your water, a water softener is highly recommended. This may seem like an added cost upfront however, having a water softener in the home is proven to not only help increase the longevity of your appliances but, will also save you time and money on cleaning supplies.
